Direct Support Professional
Department: Individual Supports
General Description: Part time and per diem positions available in the northern Rhode Island area and greater Attleboro/Taunton/Fall River areas. Direct Support Professionals provide direct assistance and support services to address the needs of individuals with disabilities and/or their families. The Direct Support Professional reports directly to and receives weekly and/or as needed support and supervision from their Team Supervisor and/or program director.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma required At least 18 years of age Associates or Bachelor Degree in Human Services or related field/one year experience working with people with disabilities and their families preferred Safe driving record, current driver’s license, personal vehicle, and current motor vehicle liability insurance required.
Job Responsibilities: Supports individuals to participate in activities or events of their choice, to be active members in their communities, to overcome any identified barriers to being included in any chosen activity, to maintain and/or expand personal relationships, etc. Assists individuals to further their social and communication skills. Assists individuals in connecting with community resources as needed. Provides transportation as needed. Maintains open communication and works with all team members. Completes needed documentation that may include weekly time sheet, daily progress notes, ISP objective tracking forms, incident reports, medical and dental forms, etc., in a timely manner. Provides reliable and appropriate service to individuals and families.
