Under the direction of our Chief Financial Officer, the Billing Specialist will play a pivotal role in facilitating agency billing and administrative needs in our Smithfield, RI location. We are seeking an individual with a proven ability to manage and appropriately prioritize multiple, complex responsibilities, while effectively meeting departmental guidelines. The individual will be responsible for managing a high volume of billing activities and will demonstrate extensive expertise on all A/R policies, processes and systems while providing effective supports to our entire Finance team. We are seeking a candidate with strong business, technical and analytical discipline, as well as troubleshooting skills. This position interfaces heavily with program staff in our Smithfield location and requires strong Microsoft Excel/Word and written/oral communication skills. Must be highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented with the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
Job Responsibilities:
Participate in contract rate negotiations with partnered and state insurance companies
Ensure timely authorizations and re-authorizations with insurance companies or state programs
Data entry of client information, insurance details, and service codes into billing software
Create and maintain Excel spreadsheets for billing purposes
Utilize both electronic and paper records to perform billing tasks
Track current provider credentials and generate timely reports
Submit insurance claims to clearinghouses and/or insurance companies
Respond to inquiries from insurance companies, clients, and providers
Fiscal and administrative filing as needed
Maintain confidentiality in all fiscal matters
Assist with monthly and yearly financial reporting and audits
Collaborate with other departments to streamline operations and improve financial processes
Monitor compliance with financial regulations and company policies
Maintain a well-organized and easily accessible filing system for financial documents
Attend financial and administrative meetings, providing insights and updates
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Associates Degree in Accounting preferred, but not necessary.
At least two years of experience in a fast-paced office environment
Minimum of one year of accounting experience preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a strong emphasis on Excel spreadsheets
Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in computer and accounting software
Ability to pass extensive background checks, including BCI, CORI, OIG, and driving record checks
